Basement Waterproofing

Basement waterproofing is something that should be left to an insured professional. Depending on the height of the basement wall and the depth of the footing, a very large excavator may be needed to excavate the wall. Cornerstone has a variety of heavy machines from excavators that can drive through a gate to an excavator that weighs in excess of 10,000 lbs. Our operators are fully licensed and have been running these machines for more than 15 years. We take special care in excavating a home to avoid breaking any service lines not marked by the locating service.

We offer two types of waterproofing systems. The less expensive option is to install a rolled on membrane covered by a drain mat with a sock wrapped drain tile on the footing. The sock wrapped pipe is always covered by no less than 36” of gravel to avoid any damage to the pipe and to allow free movement of the ground water through the gravel and into the pipe. The better system is one using Bituthene products. This system consists of a rolled on primer, peel and stick membrane (Bituthene 3000) and all joints and seams are sealed with Bituthene Mastic. After the mastic cures, a drain mat is then installed on the outside. The footing drain is then covered with a minimum of 36” of gravel and discharged to daylight.

Crawl Space Encapsulation

Cornerstone clients have experienced several benefits from a proactive means of protecting their homes from moisture damage. Thanks to crawl space encapsulation, not only is a crawl space properly safeguarded from the elements but the living space above also experiences advantages over homes without encapsulation.

The addition of a vapor barrier turns a dirty and musty crawl space into a clean and dry area that is also energy efficient. Lower utility bills and additional storage space for your home are just a couple of perks that come with crawl space encapsulation from Cornerstone. This upgrade to your home ensures your crawl space is protected from damage and contaminants permanently.

Crawl Space Drainage

A home’s crawl space easily becomes an environment for standing water where pests, mold, and mildew thrive under your living spaces. This unfortunate situation leads to all kinds of issues for homeowners. Unhealthy air being circulated throughout the HVAC that can cause illness or breathing problems for those living in the home is just one result of having standing water in your crawl space.

The expert team at Cornerstone is experienced in determining the level of moisture in a home’s crawl space as well as the source of the water. Our professionally trained crews provide installation of effective crawl space drainage solutions that remedy the issue for good so homeowners can rest assured their crawl space stays dry.
